Karate athletes ready for the European Games. “We are looking forward to it”
This is the third time they will be performing at the European Games, but it seems that their enthusiasm grows with each successive event. – Our athletes can’t wait – stresses Antonio Espinos, President of the European Karate Federation.
A real treat awaits lovers of combat sports during the European Games Krakow – Małopolska 2023. Boxers, kickboxers, judokas, muaythai, taekwondo and karate athletes will compete during the event.
The latter will fight in Bielsko-Biała, which is the unofficial capital of Polish karate, and during the European Games – the most important place for karatekas on the whole Old Continent.
– We are one of the sports that have been on the European Games programme from the very beginning. As a karate family we feel proud that once again we will be part of the most important multidisciplinary competition on the continent – stresses Antonio Espinos, President of the European Karate Federation.
Bielsko-Biała on Tuesday officially became a partner city of the European Games. To emphasise the importance of the event, Davor Cipek, Secretary General of the European Karate Federation, took part in the ceremony of handing over the Olympic flag.
– I would like to thank him for his outstanding work and for taking the time to represent our sport at the European Games. Our athletes are already looking forward to coming to Bielsko-Biała for an unforgettable tournament. I am convinced that the values and ideals of karate will be demonstrated during this event – Espinos points out.
The karate competition at the 2023 European Games will take place at the Arena Bielsko-Biała on 22-23 June. 96 athletes from 33 countries will compete.
