The quarterfinals fights of the European Games 2023 kickboxing tournament is behind us.

In total 63 fights that has happened on the first day of the tournament, 24 fights happened on the ring in full contact and 39 was on tatami, in point fighting and light contact.

One of the highlights of the day was the full contact -75 kg male fight between Serbia and Ireland. Aleksandar KONOVALOV (SRB) dominated the fight from the beginning, putting on a powerful display, while Ireland’s CARR fought ambitiously, attacking until the last second, although he was the entire third round single handed. After the fight it was revealed that he had fractured his right arm late in the second round. KONOVALOV stated in a post fight interview, he knew the second it happened as he heard the crack when he delivered the kick.

KONOVALOV passed into semifinals and will fight against strong Ukrainian BRYKOV.

In point fighting  -70kg female, one of the most interesting fights was between Tina BALOH (SLO) and Stefanie MEGERLE (GER) with high tempo and exchange of the techniques at the highest level. After three rounds, the fight was not yet decided with a tie score and had to go to extra time for one minute. At the end of extra time, Tina BALOH took the fight by a single point, progressing to the semi finals against Jodie BROWNE of Ireland.

The WAKO kickboxing provided quarterfinals day live stream on its channel, and it was recorded more than 50,000 views on the first day of the competition.
