The first eight athletes qualify for breaking’s European Games debut
The much-anticipated debut of breaking at the European Games 2023 will feature 16 athletes competing in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The first four athletes to qualify in the men’s category are Igor Wypiór (B-boy Wigor), representing the hosts Poland, number one ranked Danis Civil (B-boy Dany) from France, Daniel Grindeland (B-boy Daniel) from Norway, and TikTok sensation Karam Singh (B-boy Kid Karam) from Great Britain.
The women’s category includes number one ranked India Dewi Sardjoe (B-girl India) from the Netherlands, Antilai Sandrini (B-girl Anti) from Italy, Vanessa Marina Cartaxo Farinha (B-girl Vanessa) from Portugal, and Lithuania’s Dominika Banevič (B-girl Nicka).
Breaking caught the imagination of the Olympic Movement back in 2018, with the sport featuring at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. Fast forward four years and Europe’s elite athletes are preparing for their European Games debut, followed by the sport’s first appearance as a medal sport at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The third edition of the European Games will take place in Kraków and the regions of Małopolska from 21 June-2 July 2023.
