A deal was made. The Municipal Stadium will be modernized

The Henryk Reyman’s Municipal Stadium in Krakow will undergo modernization for the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games, with Eiffage Polska Budownictwo S.A. as the contractor.

An agreement was made on December 8, at the headquarters of the Sport Infrastructure Management Board in Kraków. It was signed by the Director of the Sport Infrastructure Management Board in Kraków, Krzysztof Kowal, and the Regional Director, Member of the Board of Eiffage Polska Budownictwo S.A., Marek Kowalik, in the presence of Deputy Mayor of the City of Kraków for Sustainable Development Jerzy Muzyk – Chief Coordinator of the Team for Preparing the City of Kraków to Co-Organize European Games 2023.

The search for a contractor for the renovation had been underway since July. Three proceedings did not lead to the selection of a contractor. At the next stage, ZIS invited companies that expressed interest in the investment to negotiate. On the table was one proposal submitted by Eiffage Polska Budownictwo S.A., for the amount of 98 million 868 thousand 555 PLN.

Sport Infrastructure Management Board in Kraków planned to allocate PLN 87 million 844 thousand 610 to finance the modernization. In order to provide the missing funds, the unit applied to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism to increase the subsidy by the missing amount of more than PLN 11 million.

At the same time, the unit requested the Kraków City Council to increase the Long-Term Financial Forecast for 2023 by the missing amount. This request was favorably considered by the Kraków City Council. If the Ministry of Sports and Tourism responds positively to the request to increase the subsidy, the municipal funds will be returned to the city budget.

The planned investment includes, among other things, the modernization of the stadium’s facade and HVAC systems related to ventilation, air conditioning and heating. The plan includes also replacing windows, doors and improving overall aesthetics. The changes are also expected to have a positive impact on the building’s energy efficiency.

The Henryk Reyman’s Municipal Stadium is an important venue in the program of the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the event will be held. The facility will also host rugby 7 competition.
