Breaking will debut at the European Games
The most important event for breaking fans is about to begin at the Park Strzelecki, Nowy Sacz. This young sport is generating a lot of interest as it will make its Olympic debut next year.
Fabulous bboys and bgirls from fifteen countries will face off in the Head to Head Individual competition, competing in a tournament format. On the first day we will see the Round Robin group phase, during which 4 groups of 4 players each will compete. The second day will see quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
16 women and 16 men will compete for victory. Among the participants representing Poland will be outstanding dancers: Paulina Starus, known as “Bgirl Paulina,” Igor “Wigor” Wypiór. A representative of Lithuania of polish descent will also appear the competition. Dominika Baniewicz “Bgirl Nicka,” is the youngest participant, who has already won a gold medal at the European Breakdance Championships.
The competition will take place in various dance systems.
During the tournament, Bboys and bgirls will compete in 1-on-1, 2-on-2 or team duels, where teams of four will fight against each other. Dancers will be judged on five key criteria: technique, execution, arsenal of moves, musicality and originality.
The breaking competition at the 2023 European Games will be of great importance to the participants. Two winners will receive a pass to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. According to the Olympic System, one pass will be awarded in the women’s category and another in the men’s category.
