COS is preparing a unique activity zone for the European Games
Starting June 26, public activity zones will be set up in the centre of Zakopane, corresponding to the disciplines associated with the various Olympic Preparation Centres of the Central Sports Centre. This is one of the most spectacular events accompanying the Krakow-Malopolska 2023 European Games, accessible and open to everyone.
One of the most important arenas of the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 will be the ski jumps belonging to the Central Sports Centre – Olympic Preparation Centre in Zakopane. Competition for medals will last from June 27 to July 1. Polish athletes are ready.
“For me, this event is new, because I haven’t taken part in it before as an athlete or as a fan. It will be an interesting experience for me, as the competition takes place at an unusual time for us. I’m sure the crowds of fans will support us, as it will be the holiday season. I hope the stands will be full and there will be a cool atmosphere,” said 33-year-old Dawid Kubacki.
Starting Monday, June 26, the unique atmosphere of the European Games will be felt at Independence Square in the centre of Zakopane. On that day at 13:00 the unique activity zones will be opened, and everyone will be able to participate. The zones will be prepared by the Central Sports Centre and will correspond to the disciplines associated with the individual Olympic Preparation Centres. Thus, in the case of Zakopane, it will be a ski jumping and cross-country skiing zone, Cetniewo – boxing, Duszniki-Zdroj – biathlon, Gizycko – 3×3 basketball, Spaly – athletics, Szczyrk – alpine skiing, and Walcz – rowing and kayaking.
During first day, free use of the Zakopane zones will be possible until 5 p.m. From Tuesday, June 27 to Saturday, July 1 inclusive, activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attractive gadgets and souvenirs with the logo of the European Games and the Central Sports Centre will be prepared for those taking part in the activities. An important element of the event will be the participation of well-known Polish athletes – both during the daily activities, and in a specially organised studio with panel discussions, during the last hour of each day of the zones’ operation. On the occasion of the event, it will be possible to get to know detailed programme of the European Games and purchase tickets, including for ski jumping competitions with the participation of stars of the discipline.
Let’s remind, as part of the III European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023, there will also be interesting ski jumping competitions with the participation of Poland’s leading representatives. Individual competitions will begin on Srednia Krokiew, where women (June 27), men (June 28), and mixed teams (June 29) will compete. Then the jumping will move to the Wielka Krokiew, where female ski jumpers will start on June 30, and male ski jumpers on July 1.
