On Friday (23.06) the final decisions in the group phase of the 3×3 basketball tournament will be made. Fans in Arena Cracovia are most interested in the fate of the Polish national teams.

The first to compete (18.30, broadcast on TVP Sport) will be Bartłomiej Koziatek’s charges. Despite two defeats, the chance to play in the quarter-finals still exists. However, two conditions must be met: The Lithuanians will win against the Ukrainians and the Poles will beat the Estonians high. Looking at the Poles playing better and better from match to match, this is realistic.

The men will conclude today’s competition at 21.35 with a match against world champions Serbia. The Poles must win. Piotr Renkiel’s rivals will be looking forward to the earlier meeting between Germany and Estonia. In the event of a triumph by the latter, Serbia will be without a chance. A win by the Poles and the Estonians, on the other hand, will result in a situation where the three teams will have the same number of victories and the final order will be determined by the balance of points scored.

Przemyslaw Zamojski, the oldest player on the Polish team, is calm before Friday’s meeting. – We have the tallest basketball player at the tournament (Adrian Bogucki 215 cm). Our tactic is to force the opponents to make as many fouls as possible in the shortest possible time. If you foul a lot, then you cannot play too aggressively in defence. It is easier to create actions in attack. There is no great philosophy, we want to please the eyes of Polish fans for as long as possible. You have to beat everyone one by one. We are physically strong and have practically no weak points,” stresses the 10-time Polish champion in 5×5 basketball and bronze medallist of the world championships in the 3×3 variety.
