Poland’s national team for the European Games took the oath of athletes
More than a hundred athletes, along with their coaching staffs, took the oath of athletes ahead of the III European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023. The ceremony took place at the Krakow Aviation Museum in the presence of Polish Olympic Committee President Radoslaw Piesiewicz.
Poland’s national team for the 3rd European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023, which will begin on June 21 in Krakow at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium, will include 370 athletes. The national team includes 182 women and 188 men representing 29 sports disciplines. Poland’s roster for the European Games includes many Olympians, Olympic medalists, as well as World Cup and European Championship medalists.
Monday’s ceremony included representatives in boxing, 3×3 basketball, beach handball, canoeing, BMX cycling, paddle boarding and sport climbing. The second group of athletes will take their oaths on June 24, while the remaining oaths will be held in the athlete villages of each sport.
– So far, Poland has won 34 medals at the European Games – 20 in Baku and 14 in Minsk. I wish you from the bottom of my heart to open the “bag of medals” in good health, improve these numbers and win qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris, in those competitions where it is possible, and remember these European Games well. It should be remembered that in 1924 Poland took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. I hope that next year we will be able to meet again at the vow before the Olympic Games in Paris. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Give your best,” said PKOl President Radoslaw Piesiewicz.
After receiving the nominations, the Polish national anthem was sung, and then, on behalf of the athletes, the text of the oath was read by Iwona Niedzwiedz, a former excellent handball player who will represent Polish country in the beach handball variant.
The 3rd European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 will begin on June 21 and will last until July 2. 48 European countries (excluding Russia and Belarus) will be represented by 7,000 athletes.
