During the European Games, the attention of fans in Rzeszow will probably be focused on what is happening at the swimming pool on Matuszczak Street. There, athletes in water jumping will compete for medals. However, during the season, sports fans in the Podkarpacie capital can get excited about the performances of the top-class volleyball teams, volleyball players, first-league footballers Resovia and Stal or second-league speedway riders.

In the latter case, the season is underway. Texom Stal after the 7th round is the runner-up with chances for promotion.

Certainly the pride of the capital of Podkarpacie are the volleyball players. Developres Bella Dolina Rzeszów (women’s team) reached the play off finals last season. In it, in the competition to three wins, it lost 1-3 to ŁKS Commercecon Łódź. However, the runner-up title is also a major achievement. On the other hand, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów (men’s team) faced the best team in Europe (three triumphs from the volleyball Champions League) in the play-off semifinals for three seasons: Grupa Azoty Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The Rzeszow players failed to advance to the finals, but in the fight for the bronze medal they proved better than Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.

Rzeszow has two soccer teams playing in the back of the Premier League. Resovia finished the 2022/2023 season in 14th place. Things went better for Stal, which took 6th place in the final table and earned the right to play in the play-offs. In them, one of the four teams will win promotion to the group of the best soccer teams in Poland. In the semifinals of the play-offs, the Rzeszów players faced Bruk-Bet Termalika Nieciecza at an away game. However, they lost 0:2 and did not advance to the finals.

Until recently, Fibrain Politechnika Rzeszów table tennis players also played in the top division. However, they were among the teams that left the Super League after the past season.
