Beach soccer tournament starts in Tarnow. Six games scheduled on Tuesday
Fourteen teams from nine countries will begin competing in the beach soccer tournament on Tuesday 27 June. The event at the Beach Arena in Tarnow will last until Saturday 1 July, when the men’s and women’s medallists will be announced.
Six teams divided into two three-team groups will take part in the women’s competition. Two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, while the remaining teams will play in a direct match for fifth place in the tournament.
The Poles were placed in group A. The hosts were drawn from the first pot, thanks to which they avoided the highest-ranked Spain. Their rivals will be the Czech Republic and Portugal.
“We will certainly be very unhappy if we don’t make it out of the group. However, we are sportsmen, we will play for gold. That is also our goal,” says Polish national team coach Mateusz Sroka.
The Polish women will start the competition at 19:00 with a match against the Czech. They will be followed by the Poles, who will start the tournament with a match against Azerbaijan. They will also play against Portugal and Spain in the group. As in the women’s tournament, two teams from each of the two groups will advance to the semi-finals.
