Agreement with AGH University of Science and Technology
The content of the agreement between the Organising Committee of the 2023 Krakow-Malopolska European Games and the AGH University of Science and Technology was agreed in Krakow. The document specifies the scope of cooperation in making the Student Village available for the Competitive Village.
The arrangements have been accepted by both parties. The contract will be signed on Thursday. This will take place as soon as all the documents required for signature have been collected.
The agreement is the finalisation of the activities started last year. In December 2022, the parties signed a preliminary agreement. The new document finally clarifies the cooperation and responsibilities of both parties.
As part of the agreement, the AGH University of Science and Technology will provide rooms in the dormitories where the athletes will stay during the European Games. In addition, the university will guarantee the provision of all services related to the athletes’ accommodation. The infrastructure necessary to serve visitors will be created – catering areas, security points and spaces for cultural and entertainment events.
The Committee will use the Student Village area until 5 July. During the following two weeks, the Organising Committee will dismantle any infrastructure built for the European Games.
It is estimated that the Athletes’ Village will house nearly 4,000 people – athletes, coaches and staff members.
The cost of the contract is PLN 14.9 million.
The European Games will begin on 21 June. The Opening Ceremony will take place at the Henryk Reyman City Stadium in Krakow. The event will last until 2 July. Around 7,000 athletes from 48 European countries will take part.
