All set for the final day of Canoe Sprint competition
The final day of Canoe Sprint competition at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games is all about the medals. On Saturday the final six sets of medals will be awarded. The programme will feature medal events in four singles’ disciplines over 500 metres, and two races in the mixed events.
The day will start with the so-called B finals, which are the placement races. The first A final of the day will be the women’s K1 500 in which the Danish star Emma JORGENSEN will try to win her fourth medal at this year’s European Games. Next up will be the men’s K1 500 metres final. The likes of Serbian Marko DRAGOSAVLJEVIC who already won a medal in K2 500, Fernando PIMENTA (POR), one of the most decorated paddlers in the championships, as well as the German Moritz FLORSTEDT and Hungarian Adam VARGA, are an invitation to a spectacular race.
On the final day of competition we will also find out whether Maria CORBERA (ESP) and Liudmyla LUZAN (UKR) will win their third medal of European Games, and whether the Czech canoe legend, Martin FUKSA will continue his reign in C1 500 by winning his ninth consecutive continental gold in this discipline.
The Canoe Sprint competition at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games will be concluded with the C2 and K2 200 metres mixed events.
After the third day of competition at Kryspinow Waterway Poland is in the lead on the Canoe Sprint European Championships medal table with three gold and one bronze medal. Ukraine has two gold and two silver medals, while Spain sits in the third place with one gold, two silvers and two bronze medals. Denmark has three medals: gold, suilver and a bronze in front of Portugal with a gold and a bronze medal. So far a total of 13 nations have won a medal in Krakow.

European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 is the Europe’s biggest multidisciplinary sporting event in 2023. More than 7 thousand athletes are competing in 26 sports and 29 disciplines for 253 gold medals. More than that, European Games 2023 are part of the qualification process for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 in 19 sports. This great celebration of sports started on 21st of June. The closing ceremony will take place on July 2nd.
