Two disciplines, four medal events, four French wins – the latest one signed by Zelia AVEZOU in the women’s Boulder final.

The French Sport Climbing national team concluded their dominant campaign at the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 with their fourth gold medal in just two days: the 19-year-old, coming from the first place in yesterday’s semi-final round, nailed a perfect round of four tops and four zones, finishing first and well ahead of her opponents.

AVEZOU’s gold adds up to the ones of Camille POUGET in the women’s Lead event, Diego FOURBET in the men’s Lead event, and Thomas LEMAGNER in the men’s Boulder event. Also in team France’s showcase is the men’s Speed silver medal, won by Marceau GARNIER.

Itay’s second medal in Sport Climbing at Krakow-Malopolska 2023 was signed by Giulia MEDICI, who followed AVEZOU in the ranking with two tops and three zones.

In bronze medal position, Lucija TARKUS of Slovenia also concluded with two tops and three zones, but a higher number of attempts than MEDICI.

Ukraine’s Ievgeniia KAZBEKOVA, France’s Agathe CALLIET, and Switzerland’s Sofya YOKOYAMA placed outside of the podium – respectively in fourth position with two tops and two zones, fifth with one top and four zones, and sixth with one top and three zones.

European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 is the Europe’s biggest multidisciplinary sporting event in 2023. More than 7 thousands athlete are competing in 26 sports and 29 disciplines for 253 gold medals. More than that, European Games 2023 are part of the qualification process for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 in 19 sports. This great celebration of sports starts with opening ceremony in Krakow on 21st of June. The closing ceremony will take place on July 2nd.
