The boxing tournament in the Krakow-Malopolska 2023 European Games has ended. Six gold medals were handed out today – three in the women’s competition and three among the men.

Women 50 kg:
Buse Naz Cakiroglu (TUR)
vs Wassila Lkhadiri (FRA) PKT 5-0 [30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27].
Boxing from the opposite position, the Turkish representative did not give the slightest chance to her final opponent. She worked brilliantly on her feet, beat accurately from the counter, while she herself avoided her opponent’s punches. A sure victory and a well-deserved gold medal.

Women 57 kg:
Svetlana Staneva (BUL) vs Amina Zidani (FRA) PKT 1-4 [28:29, 28:29, 29:28, 28:29, 28:29].
Zidani surprised her opponent with a high pace and aggressive boxing, but Staneva partially recovered in the second round. The Frenchwoman lost the third round with three judges, but won the entire bout.

Women 75 kg:
Davina-Myrha Michel (FRA) vs Aoife O’Rourke (IRL) PKT 0-5 [28:29, 27:30, 27:30, 28:29, 27:30].
O’Rourke started the fight with a right hook and ended the first round with the same action. The second clash was a bit more even, but the judges also pointed to the Irishwoman. In the end, O’Rourke guarded the advantage she had developed earlier and won the gold medal of the European Games. It was beautiful present for her 26th birthday.

Men’s 57 kg:
Javier Ibanez (BUL)
vs Jose Quiles (ESP) PKT 5-0 [29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28].
The beginning was very even. It was difficult to point out the better fighter, but starting from the middle of the fight Ibanez took control and deservedly reached for the gold medal.

Men 71 kg:
Vakhid Abbasov (SRB) vs Nikolai Terteryan (DEN) PKT 1-4 [29:28, 28:29, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27].
We already praised the Danish representative at the beginning of the tournament, and he proved in subsequent fights that he deserves praise. In today’s final, he was faster than his rival, beat more accurately and clearly won, although one of the judges was probably watching a different fight.

Men +92 kg:
Mahammad Abdullayev (AZE) vs Delicious Orie (GBR) PKT 0-5 [28:29, 28:29, 27:30, 27:30, 28:29]
The Great Britain representative has been on a roll at this tournament and has shown higher form from fight to fight. Today he still had trouble with Abdullayev in the first round, but when he hit him hard with his right hand in the second round, he caught his rhythm and by the end he was already dictating terms. He won the second and third round on the cards of all judges and reached for super heavyweight gold.
