79 days before the Opening Ceremony, the European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023 have gained strategic support. The largest sponsor of Polish sports, PKN ORLEN, has become the General Sponsor of the event.

The European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023 are fast approaching. The Opening Ceremony will take place on June 21 at the Municipal Stadium in Krakow. The event will be the largest sports event of 2023 in all of Europe. Less than three months before its start, PKN ORLEN is joining the ranks of the event’s sponsors.

“For several years, we have been consistently building a multi-energy company that is among the 150 largest companies in the world. Our products are available in nearly 100 countries. We need a strong and recognizable brand, which we are building, among other things, through involvement in sponsorship projects. Last year, it has provided us with a record 1.4 billion zlotys in advertising equivalent. As General Sponsor, we are joining the group of partners of the European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023. We will support the organisation of the largest multi-sport event in the history of Poland, which will be broadcasted in more than 50 countries. In this way, we will further strengthen the ORLEN brand and promote Poland’s image abroad,” said Daniel Obajtek, President of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.

PKN ORLEN’s comprehensive support includes nearly 100 talented male and female athletes, 70 sports clubs, 10 associations and 2 committees. For years, it has been cooperating with, among others, the Polish Olympic Committee, the Polish Volleyball Association and the Polish Athletics Association, and thanks to the merger with LOTOS Group and PGNiG, also with the Polish Football Association, the Polish Ski Association and the Polish Handball Association. It consistently bets on its presence in Formula One, starting in 2023 as the Main Partner of Scuderia AlphaTauri. PKN ORLEN supports champions, but also actively seeks young talent. Throughout 2022, the corporation continued programmes that reached more than 300,000 children across the country.

“We are very pleased that ORLEN has become the General Sponsor of the Games. With such partner, we are confident that anything is possible. It is natural for the largest sponsor of Polish sports to become a partner of the largest sports event in the history of Poland. This cooperation is bound to succeed” said the President of the Organising Committee, Marcin Nowak.

As part of the multifaceted cooperation, the ORLEN brand will be displayed on the starting numbers of the athletes and on the T-shirts of the volunteers, on the LED screens and banners of all sports arenas of the event, in the digital campaign carried out at the Krakow-Balice International Airport, and in numerous outdoor activities. PKN ORLEN will mark its presence in special projects, such as the relay with the Flame of Peace or initiatives planned in fan zones, also covered by title sponsorship.

The car fleet of the European Games will use the company’s fuel stations, and some of the vehicles will power the first mobile hydrogen refueling station that PKN ORLEN recently launched in Krakow.

The European Games Krakow-Małopolska 2023 will begin on June 21 and will last until July 2. More than 7,000 athletes from 48 countries will compete. The competition will take place in 13 Polish cities, including Krakow, Wroclaw, Chorzow and Zakopane. Special ORLEN Fan Zones will be set up around 26 arenas, including the main one in the centre of Krakow. In each of them many attractions will be prepared for fans. The programme of the Games includes 29 disciplines. 19 of them have the status of Olympic qualifiers. During the two weeks of the Games, male and female athletes will compete for 102 passes to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. In 13 disciplines, European championship medals will additionally be at stake.
