Pouget and Avezou claim gold-silver combo for France in women’s Lead final
Despite a late start, caused by the abundant rainfall that went on for most of the day, French duo Camille POUGET and Zelia AVEZOU placed in first and second place, respectively, in the women’s Lead final.
After placing second in yesterday’s semi-final, 20-year-old POUGET won gold at the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023, closing with the score of 43+ and placing just ahead of her friend and teammate Zelia AVEZOU, who took silver with 42+.
Entering the final with the eighth and last seed, Czech Republic’s Tereza SIRUCKOVA completed the podium in third position, winning the first international medal of her young career.
Barely missing medal positions after leading the semi-final ranking was Mattea POETZI of Austria, who finished in fourth position with the score of 38+. Lynn VAN DER MEER of the Netherlands followed in fifth, while Lucija TARKUS of Slovenia and Eva Maria HAMMELMUELLER of Austria respectively concluded in sixth and seventh place.
The bottom two positions of the table were occupied by Tjasa SLEMENSEK of Slovenia – eighth – and Liv EGLI of Switzerland – ninth.
Sport Climbing competitions at Krakow-Malopolska 2023 will conclude tomorrow with the last two medal events: the men’s Boulder final, starting at 17:00 (UTC+2:00), and the women’s Boulder final, starting at 20:00.
European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 is the Europe’s biggest multidisciplinary sporting event in 2023. More than 7 thousands athlete are competing in 26 sports and 29 disciplines for 253 gold medals. More than that, European Games 2023 are part of the qualification process for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 in 19 sports. This great celebretion of sports starts with opening ceremony in Krakow on 21st of June. The closing ceremony will take place on July 2nd.
