Poland’s representative Dawid Kubacki wins on Zakopane’s Wielka Krokiew hill in great style. The current top Polish jumper made two long jumps of 139 and 134.5 meters, scoring a total of 279.1 points. Second place went to Austrian Jan Hoerl and third to German Philipp Raimund, both with a few points loss to the winner.

Other Poles fared slightly worse: Piotr Zyla took seventh place, Aleksander Zniszczol 10th, Pawel Wasek 15th and Kamil Stoch 29th. Both competition series were held under ideal conditions – no rain and an “upwind”, which made long jumps possible. Importantly, in the stands of the Wielka Krokiew this time sat a full set of fans, who warmly cheered practically all the jumpers from all over Europe, although, of course, the victory of the Pole and then after the medal decoration playing the national anthem caused great enthusiasm in the stands. So the sports excitement of the III European Games of the highest format is also behind us in Zakopane.

A total of four individual and one mixed team competitions were held on the Srednia and Wielka Krokiew hills. The world’s top male and female athletes from all over Europe attracted a lot of fans to the stands each day. In addition to today’s competition, also Friday’s women’s individual competition at the Wielka Krokiew stood at the highest sporting level. Impressive jumps of Slovenian Nika Kriznar, one as long as 137.5 meters, were impressive and gave her a well-deserved victory. On the other hand, today a great performance by Polish ski jumper Dawid Kubacki was the crowning achievement of ski jumping on the plastic in Zakopane during the European Games.
