A lot of good boxing was watched by fans who went to Nowy Targ for the third day of the Krakow-Malopolska 2023 European Games struggles.

In the first session, Natalia Rok (50 kg) won the first two rounds against Zlatislava Chukanova with good footwork and counter boxing, only to safely defend her previously earned advantage in the third.

Sofiane Oumiha (63.5 kg) had a much tougher task today than on Friday. Germany’s Assan Hansen set the bar higher, but the three-time world champion deservedly won on the judges’ scorecards with 4:1. Gianluigi Malanga, a boxing from the counter, gave a good performance. He didn’t give the slightest chance to his Czech rival, winning all three rounds, although one of the judges seems to have watched a different fight and awarded the win to Petr Novak. Fortunately, the other four scored in unison 30:27 in favor of Malanga.

The best fight of the tournament so far was between Dean Clancy (IRL) and Malik Hasanov (AZE). After two rounds it was a draw and the third round decided everything. The judges had a difficult task, but after the final bell, Clancy won by a 3:2 vote ratio. Both fighters received well-deserved applause from the fans. On Wednesday, Clancy and Malanga will fight to enter the semifinals. The better of the two will also secure promotion to the Paris Olympics (2024).

In the 71kg weight class, Sarkhan Aliyev won on the cards of all judges, but was counted at the end of the fight after a punch to the body from Michal Takacs.

In the super heavyweight (+92 kg), Nelvie Tiafack (GER) was technically superior and confidently won on points, but the big and strong Stan Bertens (NED) remained dangerous until the very end.

Ugur Aydemir (TUR) started strongly, won the first round on all judges scorecards, but Mahammad Abdullayev (AZE) turned up the pace in the second, beating consistently with a left hook to the body, weakening his opponent and he finally stopped his opponent at the end of the fight.

In the evening session in the heaviest women’s category (75 kg), Davina Michel (FRA) and Kerry Davis (GBR) gave a fierce fight. After the last bell, the athletes were exhausted, and the judges chose the French representative with the 3:2 decision. In the same limit the high form was shown by the representative of the hosts, Elżbieta Wojcik. The Pole had small problems at the ebd of the fight, but in the first few minutes she built a safe lead.

It is certainly worth noting 19-year-old Radoslav Rosenov (63.5 kg). The Bulgarian enjoyed his time in the ring and gave no chance to Reese Lynch (GBR).

A high level was presented by the men in the 71kg weight class. In the most interesting clashes, Yuri Zakhariyev (UKR), Magomed Schachidov (GER) and Salvatore Cavallaro (ITA) won.

There was a lot of excitement in the super heavyweight division. Facing each other were Delicious Orie (GBR) and Marko Milun (CRO). After a clash of heads, the fight was stopped in the second round and the points were counted. Four judges pointed to Orie. The furious Croatian had a lot of resentment towards the referee afterwards.
